Color TheoryColor Theory and Scheme Building
The thing about colors, is how much they effects us.
Colors have the ability to brighten up, warm up, cool down or even sadden (think gothic - black, dark clothing) the ambiance of a location or portrait. On the same level, miss matched colors could possibly have the effect of adding the feel of a stressful or chaotic atmosphere.
Blending the colors of your clothing with the clothing of the others in the portrait with you is very important in achieving a desired feel or mood.
Are you a fun family? Think, Spring time with bright Easter like colors! Are you more of a dramatic quiet family? Think Fall muted darker tones of reds, greens and browns.
That leads to another side of the portrait color schemes. SEASONS! Just as important as matching clothing colors, is matching your clothing color scheme to the season you'll be photographed in.
FALL - darker muted tones of reds, greens and browns WINTER - cooler quiet tones of blues, grays and purples SUMMER - Warmer tones of Red, Oranges and Yellows SPRING - Brighter tones of Blues, pinks and turquoise
